Documentary Styled Wedding Photography
As a documentary styled wedding photographer, I approach each wedding with an eye for capturing the genuine, unscripted moments that unfold throughout your day. I won’t pose you but I may give you a prompt when needed. My goal is not to pose or stage the moments, but to blend seamlessly into the background, allowing the natural flow of your celebration to unfold. I love to document raw emotions, the intimate exchanges, and the fleeting expressions that altogether tell the story of your day. By remaining an unobtrusive observer, I am able to preserve the authenticity throughout your day, ensuring that you are left with a timeless gallery that truly reflects the memories of your wedding.
As a documentary styled wedding photographer, I adore getting ready photos and can be some of the most meaningful and intimate images I capture on a wedding day. These quiet moments before the ceremony are a chance to document the anticipation, excitement, and quiet moments of you and your closest loved ones. I'll document the groom nervously adjusting his tie, the bridesmaids laughing together as they help the bride get dressed. These in-between moments showcase the humanity and emotion in your day in a way that the grand, posed portraits cannot. My approach is to move through the getting ready space, waiting for authentic interactions and emotive expressions to unfold naturally. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, allowing me to document the genuine experience of preparing for your wedding day.
Your ceremony! During this time not only am I documenting you and your hunny but also the loved ones that surround you. Your parents tears as you walk down the aisle, your grandparents smiles as you read your vows, the joy and celebration from your friends as you share your first kiss and are announced as Mr and Mrs for the first time. Your wedding is a celebration of you and you chose these loved ones to surround you, I think that makes them a very special part of the day.
Ahh the joys of cocktail hour, a delightful and lively time to document candid interactions among guests as they connect with each other, as well as with you. During this time, everyone is eager to share their love and well wishes with the newlyweds. With glasses clinking, smiles filling faces, a celebration begins.
While I love the slow beginning moments of your day, I can’t help but love the end just as much. A mix of emotions as the celebration continues. Laughs during the speeches, tears as you share your first dance, and if we’re lucky a quiet moment to sneak off for sunset pictures. Of course you can opt out and keep dancing the night away on the dance floor, but if you’re down for some extra couples portraits we’ll chase the sunset together. I still keep my hands off approach here, but may give you a prompt to get started. Then we’ll finish the night celebrating together - I’m by no means a great dancer, but I might just make my way to that dance floor with you.
If you asked me to pick a favorite part of your day, I don’t think I could. It’s a beautiful celebration and documenting it means the world to me. All the moments that unfolded, blending together to paint a beautiful picture. I want you to feel your day just as it was when you look back on your album. I thank you for trusting me to do that for you <3
